At the recent Keswick Convention, Costa-Rican theologian Ruth Padilla DeBorst shared how her faith grew in the midst of her grief, after her husband was killed by thieves on the road in Ecuador. “I was eight months pregnant,” she said, “I had two small children. Ask whether it shook her faith, she said:
“I encountered Christ in the midst of that… It came to be as an incredible expression… of a whole new experience of God in the midst of suffering. It also opened up a new chapter in my awareness of the suffering of others.”
Ruth described how she was the supported in her grief by her family, and he former colleagues at IFES (The International Fellowship of Evangelical Students).
