New LifeWay Research data released just before Christmas gave some interesting insights into attitudes of Americans towards Christmas and the Christian faith. It showed that most Americans
believe Christmas should be more about Jesus.
Some of the findings included:
• 79% of Americans agree Christmas should be more about Jesus
• 63% of Americans say people should visit church for Christmas
• 70% say Christmas would be better with a Christian focus
• 56% say God’s Son existed before Jesus was born in Bethlehem
Perhaps the most striking finding of the report is that a little more than half (56 percent) of Americans agree with the statement, “God’s Son existed before Jesus was born in Bethlehem.” Three in 10 (29 percent), however, disagree. 15 percent said they weren’t sure. However, this shows there is still a considerable residue of acknowledgement of who Jesus is throughout the USA.

PRAISE God that Americans still sense in their hearts that Jesus is the Son of God. PRAY that churches may use this to the furtherance of the Gospel.
