Macedonian Mission to the Balkans (MMB) plants and grows churches in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. Founded in the early 1990’s by national Christians who trained for ministry within the region, from a parent church and headquarters in Skopje, a network of churches, ministry and humanitarian projects extend throughout Macedonia. Church planting is vital in a nation with only 4,270 evangelicals!
MMB is now also working towards opening the country’s first evangelical Bible college, in Kumanovo. Their growing ministry among the Roma (Gypsy) population is an outstanding testimony to the change Christ brings. Among major breakthroughs, a new church served by a Roma pastor has been started in the city of Bitola.
A relief branch of MMB – founded under the name AGAPE during the 1999 war in neighbouring Kosovo – proved key to significant church growth in Macedonia. As churches provided shelter for refugees, and organised distribution of food and medical supplies, people became increasingly receptive to the Gospel. In many places, MMB faces the challenge of growing congregations when existing church buildings are full to overflowing, and inadequate for ministry needs.
