Dear Friends,
Last weekend saw the annual Glastonbury Festival delight festival goers. One particular performance that caught people’s attention was that of Stormzy, the South London grime artist, with his powerful performance of his worship-like song ‘Blinded By Your Grace’. Stormzy unashamedly told the crowd they were going to give all the glory to God before leading the assembled ‘congregation’ in a song of praise. But many Christians have been critical of the rapper after the rest of his show featured a number of profanities. So what are we to make of figures like Stormzy who at one moment give glory to God and in the next appear just as worldly as everyone else? Glen and Paul share their thoughts on this week’s LIVEcast.
On a more note, the conservative evangelical church in the UK has been rocked by the allegations that have recently surfaced concerning the improper conduct of Jonathan Fletcher, a former incumbent at Emmanuel Wimbledon and a prominent figure in the Iwerne Camps movement, as well as in conservative circles at large. As what happened comes to light, we ask what do we do when Christians are compromised? All that on this week’s LIVEcast.
And don’t miss a short video Glen did for the School of Faith, which includes a great illustration for our evangelism.
In case you missed any of that, we’ve collected all of these resources for you right here!
Coming Up For Speak Life
We’d value your prayers for these upcoming projects and engagements:
- Pray for Glen as he spends time in Greenwich speaking at another mission week.
- Pray for Paul speaking on 1 Corinthians 15 at All Saints Crowborough twice next Sunday morning.
- Please continue to pray for accommodation for our interns. We are asking local churches to ask their congregations if anyone can put people up. Pray for people to come forward and for interns to be matched to the right hosts.
- Pray for wisdom as we look ahead and consider the shape of our ministry and output in the light of the Foundry programme and the new interns.
