Bell Farm Christian Centre plays a pivotal role in helping the local community develop and grow together. It exists to “witness to God’s love as revealed in his Son, Jesus Christ, and to serve our community in His love and power”. Together with its Christian witness, the Church provides a number of services and activities for the wider community which are used by over 3,000 people each year; these have encouraged many residents and families to develop personal skills and self-confidence, and learn how to help both themselves and each other. The organisation works with some of the most disadvantaged and marginalised within the community including those from the Traveller Community.
Their Advice, Information and Care Service provides, support to members of the local community who have issues concerning housing, benefits, consumer affairs, debt, hate crime, domestic violence etc. The work includes partnerships with other organisations dealing with specific issues. Their Children and Families Section provides support and activities for children, families and young people within the community, currently providing: a carers and toddler group; a toy library; holiday clubs; special events, such as “How to Drug Proof Your Kids” so as to support families across the local area.
The Older Persons Section organises a weekly lunch and social club which offers a freshly cooked meal and social contact for older people within the community. An outreach service helps identify and support isolated older people in the community. The Parent Support Section provides parenting classes, and other activities in support of families. The Centre has also been
significantly involved in various community meetings and events in support of the wider community.
