In Luke chapter 11 Jesus is praying to the Father. The disciples like the look of it, so they ask Jesus how they can pray. Wonderfully, Jesus teaches them the Lord’s Prayer. Essentially Jesus says to us: “I have prayed ‘My Father’ for all eternity. Now you can pray ‘Our Father.’” Jesus invites us into His own intimacy and fellowship with the Father. And as He does so, He reminds us that His Father is “in heaven.” We must remember: our Father rules the cosmos! Or put it another way – the One who rules the cosmos is our Father. This is the foundation of prayer: Our Father in heaven.
PRAY for a fresh vision of who God is – your Father.
PRAY for a fresh appreciation for where you’ve come in prayer – heaven itself!
