“Doing good” is dangerous business. It’s very difficult to “do good” without trusting in your goodness and drawing attention to it. Jesus saw the “do-gooders” of His day doing their deeds “to be seen by people” – which is not good. But Jesus tells us to switch our audience. Don’t worry about how people see you, know the smile of your Father in heaven and just get on and serve. If your eyes are on God and not on your reputation you can give and pray and fast and you won’t need the approval of men, you can just give. When you know that God sees it all, that is more than enough.
PRAY for self-forgetful and joyful generosity.
