Jonah 4
The Old Testament’s most successful evangelist strikes a ridiculous figure in Jonah chapter 4. He had hoped for the destruction, not the salvation, of Nineveh and he ends up bemoaning the LORD’s amazing grace. He is a warning to all of us. Self-righteousness can infect our evangelism. Evangelists are tempted to feel superior to those we evangelise – after all, we have the truth and they do not. But we forget, as Jonah did, the pit from which we were raised.

PRAY that God would remind you of the amazing grace you needed in order to be saved.

PRAY for a deep compassion for the lost.
