News from Iran dominates our headlines, but behind the scenes God is building His church. Thirty years of Islamic revolution have made Iranians the most open Muslim people in the world to Christ. And it is only the Gospel that can bring peace to Iranians and the whole Middle East.
In one week in the month of September, Elam Ministries reports that more than 240 Iranians were baptised in two large celebrations. A further 16 were baptised in a smaller service, and about 200 more were soon to be baptised at a fourth celebration. Seven friends, who were there to support those being baptised,
responded to a call to submit their lives to Christ for the first time at one of last week’s celebrations.
Here is the report from a typical service in Iran: “The meeting room is crowded and hot. The worship is enthusiastic and fervent. The preaching simple: Jesus did not condemn the woman caught in adultery, because He was condemned for her. The appeal is direct: ‘Don’t leave this room with your sin; Jesus died for you.’ People come forward for prayer. One man says he is a Muslim, but he loves Jesus.
‘Do you want to become a believer? ‘Yes’. There is more talk. The pastor turns to the man’s wife and daughter. Do they too want to become followers of Jesus? Yes…”

PRAISE God for the huge number of open hearts in Iran, despite the danger of prison. Pray for those who have just been baptised and those who are seeking – that many will find the Saviour.
