On the 16th we saw the power of Christ-like living to adorn our gospel witness. Here we learn that even our failures can serve God’s evangelistic plans. King David had committed murder and adultery but then, having admitted to his terrible sins, he says “Then I will teach transgressors Your ways and sinners will turn to You.” David’s “evangelism” doesn’t come out of triumph but out of transgression. Nevertheless he’s able to reach his hearers because his message (and ours) is not one of morality but of mercy. Perhaps you feel like you’ve “blown it” in your witness to non-Christians. David shows us that we can point to Christ through our failures as well as faithfulness. After all we are never more than beggars telling other beggars where to find Bread.

PRAY for God to restore to you the joy of your salvation so that you might “teach transgressors” God’s ways.
