From the 27-29 March the city of Cebu in the Philippines experienced the Festival of Life at which Billy Graham’s grandson, Will, was the main evangelist. Despite Cebu being considered ‘a
hard place to evangelise’ by local pastor Trifon Brady, some 60,000 people came over the three days. Cebu is the city where the first Catholic missions were established, he explained.
‘Here the people are very religious… but they don’t have a relationship with Jesus,’ Brady explained. In a challenging message, Will Graham said, ‘You cannot buy your salvation. All you can do is receive it as a free gift from God… the name of salvation is Jesus,’ Will added. Some 9,700 people made a profession of faith in Jesus throughout the event. ‘I see the faithfulness of God. When God’s Word is preached it never returns void of fruit,’ Graham said. Turning to the older Christians, he added: ‘Now I ask you to pray for these people who have decided to follow Jesus here, that they may be faithfully followed-up by the local churches, and that they will grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.’
