The President of the Central American Republic of Guatemala, Otto Pérez Molina told the Second National Prayer Breakfast that he acknowledges Jesus as Lord of Guatemala, so that He would bless, inspire, strengthen and guide the people of Guatemala. The Prayer Breakfast was attended by businessmen and Government officials and also, as special guests, by Thelma Aldana, of the California Congress, and Janice Hahn, Governor of South Carolina.
Molina began his address by quoting the apostle Paul’s words in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” He added that his challenge was to serve the Guatemalan people in such a way as to bring down the levels of violence and under nourishment. “Christ is our strength, and He will make Guatemala into a nation that will be an example to others and He will lead Guatemalans to desire to have God in their hearts,” Pérez Molina said.
Manuel Espina, President of the Organizing Committee of the Prayer Breakfast said, “Our aim is to build relationships among the participants so as to bring change and development to our nation” He said the organisers had been dreaming for 10 years about this event which seeks to see the transformation of souls. Guatemala probably has the highest proportion of evangelical Christians in all of Latin America – close to 40% of its 15 million people.
