In what is still a rapidly developing situation, on Thursday, February 20th, Ukraine experienced its worst violence in nearly 4 months of protests against the regime of Victor Yanukovych – with close to 80 people dying and hundreds wounded. Lena, the Ukrainian director of an international choir that meets at Revival’s Prayer Centre in Eastbourne, asked us to pray earnestly before practice that evening. Bulletin editor, Ian Milmine says: “The situation seemed impossible. But that very night the corrupt Yanukovych government fell, and the violent oppression of civilian protestors ended.”
Parliament chose respected Baptist pastor Oleksandr Turchynov as the new interim President. He will need all his negotiating skills, and the prayers of God’s people to stand up to former KGB Putin’s provocations, and keep peace and unity in his battered nation.
