There are many kinds of mourning. Mourning over death, mourning over lost opportunities, mourning over sin. Jesus says we can know a profound blessing even in the midst of such mourning. Why? Because of a future hope so bright it transfigures the present. Jesus does not abolish mourning, He enters it and then promises a coming comfort that transforms our experience of grief. Jesus promises that, one day, all that is lost will be restored.
All that has fallen in the furnace will come through it refined. All that has died will be raised. All that is sad will come untrue.
PRAY for comfort in our mourning and for a renewed vision of Christ’s glorious future.
